The Grass Is Always Greener
It is in our nature to want more. A desire to have more, be more, and do more defines the process of expansion. It is the ever-present desire for growth that makes us eternal beings. Wanting more is life-giving!
Every time we observe something that we would like to bring into our own experience, our Inner Voice speaks loud and clear. The thought is instinctive, reliable, and instant.
“I want that!” it tells us.
Like a kid standing in the midst of a massive toy store, the Inner Voice is eager to express itself with an instant spark of desire. Within each and every one of us, young and old, our immediate preference upon any given observation never fails. We know exactly what we like and we seem to know exactly what we do not like.
The process is fun and natural. And then we grow up to spend an inordinate amount of time and energy trying like hell to get that Inner Voice to be silent.
Socialization and mass consciousness have equipped our mental operating systems to sabotage our natural instinct to have more. By the time we reach adulthood, all the tools we require to extinguish our natural preferences remain plentiful in our arsenal. We even have the perfect phrases to fortify our ingrained belief systems regarding chance and distribution of abundance.
“When pigs fly.”
“Only in your wildest dreams.” (one of my favorites)
“When hell freezes over.”
“Never in a million years.”
“Not a snowball’s chance in hell.”
“Chances are few and far between.”
We learn them, accept them, and repeat them with regular frequency. We use them often when speaking to ourselves, and we use them when speaking to others (particularly if they are younger in age). Routine use of these phrases effectively assures that everyone is on the same page regarding the concept of having whatever you want.
This way, when we notice someone who does appear to acquire whatever they want, we can justify our previous declarations with enhanced reasoning and logic. We go to great lengths to ensure that everyone understands that these people are either unusually lucky, spoiled, greedy, selfish, born with a silver spoon, worked their ass off harder and smarter than any average person ever could, or they got into bed with the devil. (That one always kills me. As if we cannot wrap any genuine and positive energy around the good fortune of others, we have to bring the possibility of evil into it.)
Whatever those who appear to lead charmed lives are doing, we make certain that the majority of us grasp the notion that to have it all is somehow a rare and unusual occurrence. It’s odd. We even treat the plausible idea that someone could be “in the right place at the right time” as a rarity that is available to only a select few.
These ancient belief systems are now being questioned and reevaluated by many of us who seek the ease of life. This is an amazing time:) New Energy and awareness of our creative potential are flowing into our consciousness as mankind is awakening to the Universal Truths that have always been in place. Slowly peeling away the layers of our old thought patterns to reveal Who We Truly Are has been worth the journey, and many of us are remembering what we are actually capable of.
Perhaps you are developing a new perspective on what is possible. Perhaps you are slowly reevaluating your concept of what you once defined as “odd.” Perhaps, as short as five years ago, you never expected that you would find yourself reading a witch’s blog:)
Wherever you are on your journey of self-expansion, be compassionate with the process. We operate in an environment where it will take some practice to temper a negative belief system, especially one that has effectively labeled the natural desire for more as greedy, spoiled, unusually lucky, or somehow in contact with the Dark Side. Awareness and acceptance of your true nature is the key.
There may be some of us who never liberate our inner instinct to prefer more. We will continue to keep our natural desires for greener grass under wraps because hell will never freeze over and pigs will never fly. Wanting more, and getting it easily, will remain an odd notion that feeds the energy of an old belief system. Until we widen our gaze, it is what it always has been.
Sometimes, just getting one foot out of the broom closet is enough to remember what it can be, and serve to enhance the memory that greener grass is, and always has been, your birthright to create.

I like the way you put this!
And I find it easier to believe that I can choose to be successful and wealthy when I see others who are successful and wealthy. I used to look at them with envy, and the feeling of “Well, lucky them…”
Now I can look at the people who live in giant houses and have 10 expensive vehicles and say to myself, ” I want that. And it is available for me to have. All I have to do is allow it into my experience.”
Everyone’s “wildest dreams” can become a reality.
